Started with one line. Built out one process at a time.
Medicare Pharma was set up in 2007 with a single oral-solids line and a short list of anti-infectives. Growth since then has been deliberate: a new dosage form only after the previous one was validated, a new market only after the dossier was complete.
Today the company runs two facilities — oral solids and liquids at Unit 1, topicals and nutrition at Unit 2 — supported by an analytical development laboratory, a regulatory affairs team handling export registrations, and a field force covering the domestic market through 38 stockists.
Ownership is closely held and management is hands-on. Decisions about what to make, and what not to make, are taken by people who will also sign the batch release.

Mission
To manufacture essential medicines to a standard that does not vary with the market they are sold into, and to price them so that the people who need them daily can keep buying them.
Vision
To be the manufacturing partner that mid-size brands and public health programmes choose when the product has to be right every time, not just the first time.

Documentation before dispatch. No shortcut that cannot be explained to an auditor. Say no to work we cannot do properly, and say it early.

Company incorporated
Operations begin at Unit 1 with a single tablet compression line and a portfolio of eleven anti-infective products.
- 2011
Oral liquids added
Syrup and suspension block commissioned, opening the paediatric segment and the first hospital supply contracts.
- 2014
WHO-GMP certification
Unit 1 certified, making export registration possible. First consignments dispatched to East Africa the following year.
- 2018
Unit 2 commissioned
Dedicated topicals and nutrition facility with segregated air handling and its own quality control laboratory.
- 2021
Analytical development laboratory
In-house method development and validation, ending reliance on external laboratories for routine work.
- 2024
Revised Schedule M readiness
Both units upgraded ahead of the revised Schedule M timeline, including pressure cascade and documentation changes.
- 2026
Eighteen export markets
Registrations live across Africa, South-East Asia, the Middle East and the CIS, with two further markets under review.
